Causes of TTSA Establishment
During the period from 1974-1975, there was a total increase of fifty-two tapioca starch. On the season of production from October to March most of these factories would always encounter lack of revolving fund required for tapioca roots purchase. Given the lack of the revolving fund, there was no alternative for tapioca starch manufacturers but to make a swift sell of their products. The situation mainly caused the decline in tapioca starch price due to the fact that exporters and foreign traders grabbed the chance to underprice at tapioca starch manufacturers got into difficulty with the low price and remaining stocks of tapioca starch. As a result, the Thai Tapioca Starch Association was then founded with the aim of guaranteeing the lowest price of tapioca starch to survive the industrialists and to raise wages for workers and better the price of tapioca roots for planters. Currently, there have been approximately 73 ordinary members, 62 associate members and 2 honorary members. |
